Description:

Waterborne disease from pathogen-colonized building water systems is significant and increasing, both in the United States and worldwide. Attention has been focused primarily on Legionella, but the disease burden from other pathogens also is considerable. In 2015, ASHRAE published ANSI Standard 188, the first industry consensus standard addressing the management of Legionella risk from building water systems. In 2017, CMS issued a memo clarifying the coverage of its existing requirements for the management of risk from Legionella and other waterborne pathogens. In 2020, TJC proposed new requirements for management of water systems in healthcare facilities, with specific reference to ASHRAE 188. In this webinar, the presenters will review current and proposed CMS/TJC requirements in the context of ASHRAE 188 and will discuss practical implications of the proposed new TJC/CMS requirements for healthcare facilities.
